Arrowhead Wildfire Mitigation Plan

Arrowhead Association and Arrowhead Metro District collaborate with the Eagle River Fire Protection District and the Eagle Valley Wildland program, united in their mission to reduce wildfire risk through mitigation, suppression, and community education.

In 2024, the Arrowhead Metro District completed wildfire fuel reduction on an additional 223.5 acres of land surrounding Arrowhead with partners, Eagle Valley Wildland and the Eagle River Fire District. This was the goal for the year, and brings the total number of acres mitigated to 375 acres. To Arrowhead’s immediate west there are 140 remaining acres of land that the Metro District feels must be mitigated for wildfires by dramatically reducing fuel loads, and they are committed to finishing that piece in 2025.

For 2025 and beyond, Arrowhead and the greater BC Area (Beaver Creek, Bachelor Gulch, Bachelor Springs) partnered to fund an Area Wildfire Manager — a direct contact for wildfire education, risk reduction, evacuation planning, detection, and mitigation.  Micah Rader has been named as the Area Wildfire Manager.

Eagle Valley Wildland will be providing complimentary landscape assessments for all of the properties in Arrowhead over the next 2 years.  Landscape assessments have recently begun in May 2025 and will continue through 2027. You will see uniformed firefighters in Fire Protection Department vehicles in the neighborhood conducting the landscape assessments. The information contained in the assessments has a dual purpose - for homeowner information and for fire department information.  Homeowners can use the information on how to make your property more defensible and reduce risk of damage from a wildfire. The fire department maintains this information in a database that is used only by firefighters, as helpful information in the event that they are fighting a fire in the area. Assessment information will not be publicly available.

You can also take action today to reduce wildfire risk.

REALFire property assessments are available to all residential properties, including single family, duplex and condos/townhomes. Assessments are currently being offered at no charge to residents. See below for details.

It’s not just up to “Smokey” - we’re part of the solution.
